Bake Quest #4 – February 2011<3 -Ideas Needed

I will fully admit to being a complete lame-o when it came to January’s Bake Quest.  This despite the fact that there is a large container of organic spinach in the fridge as I type.  Thanks to all those that participated for January.  Now onto February.  🙂

Any suggestions for February?  I was thinking chocolate could be one.  Anyone else?

    I can deal with beets, too. I’m 1/2 Ukrainian – we do a mean Borscht.

    Hmmm chocolate vs. beets this is hard because I like both equally. 🙂

    However, if I am to choose between Chocolate and beets … chocolate wins out for sure!

  4. I had all but stopped cooking until the girls moved in. I’m slowly but surely working my way back to it. I can use all the help I can get just to get back in to the groove of things. I used to be a good cook, but over time, you forget a lot. lol

    • Good for you LW! My hubby is really the cook at home but I have started again. Blogging was really the inspiration to start again. Everyone was posting such wonderful things. I’m glad to be back at it because it can be very relaxing.

      I hope you’ll join us on the next Bake Quest. 🙂 I’ll have directions posted early next week.

    • Chocolate will most likely be a contender unless there are votes for other things in which we may be overuled. I have a picture and a recipe on tap already so I’ll have my fingers crossed. 😉

  7. I’m not familiar with the bake quest but it sounds fun! Personally I love spinach and cheese, meringue cookies….but if it’s like an Iron Chef challenge, where you highlight one ingredient, maybe beets? They’re nutritious with lots of iron (and actually one woman used them in cupcakes recently).

    • It is loads of fun and we often get lots of great recipes out of it. Once I have a few suggestions I’ll post the instructions. We choose three different ingredients for the month where some may be allergic or things may not be in season, etc… and then we post a recipe giving credit to the author while using one of the said ingredients (or all, depending on what it is).

      Beets sounds like a good one! Cupcakes with beets? How cool is that?

    • I believe that red velvet cake is red because of the sugar shortage in WW2 and using beets as a substitute.
